Well we’ve moved house – back into town after our brief rental in the countryside.
House sharing with the builders is something we hadn’t planned for. The noise, dust and unopened boxes is a challenge.
I’ve been scrambling on hands and knees in the rubble …to find the builders’ hearing aid. It’s expensive I gather. Daniel commented his own is cheap and he’d not scramble in rubble for it. Oh and his doesn’t work.
Meanwhile my friend Caroline has been getting curtains fixed up. She needed a sprocket for that.
My cheap curtains version from Dunelm she said not a word about. The fact that when Dunelm says 80 by 200means 200 width 80 drop. Who knew? My uselessness doesn’t fade Caroline.
In between the sprockets and rubble I spoke at a London conference. The 34 degrees sweaty walk to the venue was horrible. However once I’d freshened up air con was on and the speakers were epic. The Professor speaking before my slot is an expert in bladder infections. He was funny and serious and explained the science in clear no nonsense terms. His name is Prof Bob. More about him later.
My talk seemed well received it was not very serious, it was an explanation of CISC and how I was ( not) taught in the early days. My uro dynamics story always gets a laugh. Fifty shades of strapped to an X-ray couch -table -sprocket thing!
The EMR train crash is inevitably in all our minds as we clamber on board on over crowded late running shorter than should be trains back and forth to London. Hoping that despite being squished into the front carriage the sprockets or whatever, are fully functional. My GP and my friend Mel both injured are now in touch with each other. Connections in such times so very necessary. We’ve also got the local MPs to raise questions in Westminster. Not least to support the injured but also to get EMR to acknowledge and fix failures. Sitting on the floor of a four coach ( should be 8) train where the guard suggests everyone moves to the front carriage as the air con is broken – is not funny.
Monday was another train trip. Into Westminster for the APPG UTI. Prof Bob greeted me like a long lost friend. Between us we seized the Qand A session to our own ends.
The gathered patients, charities, industry , academics and clinicians have so much to offer – there’s a fast track plan. Let’s diagnose, define, treat and prevent. Sounds easy but it’s not. The MP Alison Gardner has the energy and power to get some traction.
Finally to my own health bits.
Gentamicin is back in stock and without it I’d not be coping.
Jaw is suddenly agony. The very awesome receptionist at Mrs Restorative’s clinic took control of situation. Rang Mrs Restore in France. Fixed locum to see me. Found the essential sprockets ( the like of which he hadn’t ever seen). X ray. Sprocket. Inflammation antibiotics pain killers . Metal work. Receptionist again swung into action tore off email to the surgeon at Luton. Who despite all the promised follow ups has only seen me once. Lo and behold – suddenly I have an emergency appointment on Friday. I’ll , update.
More soon. football tonight better be a win. Eek.
