After all that happened in 2025 looking forward to Christmas Day was top of my list.

But! I’ve ended up in hospital. Ambulance brought me in last night. Lovely Christmassy blue lights. (Oops). What truly wonderful people the paramedics are.

Straight into a bay no queuing. Amazing A and E Doctors. Scans blah blah.

Antivirals. Antibiotics. Steroids. Nebulisers. Oxygen. Magnesium. Potassium. AminoPhillin. (?!)Wow they’ve thrown everything at it.

Turns out even if you have had the flu jab you can get flu. Doh.

Here I am in a side room. At least I’ve got out of cooking the turkey !

NHS‑land here is actually amazing speed efficiency and niceness. . But what the paramedics said about Wes… honestly, not repeatable. They said Christmas Eve is a good time to call an ambulance. The worried well don’t ring until after their turkey. They get indigestion and think it’s a heart attack. The really ill on Christmas Eve get an ambulance fast and brilliantly looked after. I’m in a side room . It’s the small things you notice — broken bits of equipment, a sink that desperately needs descaling. I’d love a bit of bleach surely nhs can afford that?The doctors are fantastic, the nurses too. It’s just the infrastructure that’s falling apart
