Well one week on and I am still here. Still covid negative. But much better. Lots of crazy stories. I’m ok though. Plans for discharge a little complex as Daniel still tested positive for covid. So I cannot go home. Daniel is feeling a lot better too. He’s had so many meals delivered to his doorstep. I think the freezer will support us for the festivities ahead!
Anyhow. I’ll let you know where I am when I know. For now I’m chasing the water jug to go with the glass. Then the glass goes missing and it’s sipping warm water out of a jug.
Steroids got so high I’ve not slept much. But that’s ok. Helps with the investigating water situation. !
Atrovent salbutamol magnesium antibiotics painkillers lots of stuff to calm down bonkers asthma caused by bonkers lung infection.
Doctors nurses brilliant. Funny. Chatty.
Jerome has sprinted in with coffee. He even helped make my bed – the hca was fighting the duvet and cover. Jerome intervened but was only rewarded with a scowl. That set me off laughing so much the coughing went nuts. Jerome and Consultant on ward joined forces to watch me splutter. Ruining the peak flow readings for the rest of the morning!
I went into the House of Commons. Well by zoom. Hospital gown and iPad at the ready. The meeting was full of energy enthusiasm and for once action in support of all that is happening to improve bladder care for patients.
I nearly got away with saying little and turning the camera off. Well I thought I had. The nurses came and went. Then maintenance arrived to check the ceiling for asbestos. Unfortunately the camera was on. Mute on though phew.
My bit was to explain a couple of new initiatives. To be honest I couldn’t for the life of me remember what they were. I just smiled. Demuted. Camera back on. Said everything was going at a terrific pace mumbled mumbled.
The extremely nice admin team thanked me etc for being the real life patient gown and all. Oh and commented on the book. ‘Totally Bladdered’. The various delegates could be seen giggling off camera and Baroness Wotsit who had grappled with mute all afternoon could be heard spluttering and querying if she had heard right.
More later!

Glad you are feeling a bit better, hope you get out soo…
