Anniversaries

It’s a year ago that we began to talk about a virus. Covid 19. Random stories from Italyand cruise ships. Surely nothing to worry about? Had any of us heard of Zoom? Or lockdown? Furlough? variants?

Zoom is doing my head in. In an effort to stop the bloody screen headaches I’ve bought some screen glasses. They are supposed to be better for zoom. So good are they I cannot see a thing. Must’ve got the wrong strength. Anyhow in all myopic calls this week the best must’ve been Tuesday. I had organised a zoom with a small group of friends. Chat. Support. Laugh. One Screen. Just as that started, my mother rang. Her bridge partner had an emergency. Could I step in? NOW. I actually have never been able to say NO to mum! I do think I can multitask. As if. I logged on to bridge. Attempted to play bridge. I did chat with zoom friends too. Three screens. Easy. Then mum rang again.

1. How many hearts did I have?

2. I am meant to be watching a funeral online. I cannot log on.

Of course I told her my hearts. Then told her to send me the funeral link.
Four screens. Funeral started. I rang mum. Updated. Director and minister were chatting. Then coffin etc. Played my hearts. Told mum what was happening at the funeral. Turned up the sound for the Eulogy. Angus my father’s school friend. Stories of North London fun and laughter.
Returned eventually to screen 1 – zoom friends. Jacq they said. We heard it all. Angus sounds absolutely lovely. And indeed he was.
Screens 1-4 muted.
👓 off.
Paracetamol in.

Medical : After Dipstick rang on Monday, to say, nothing was happening. GP rang on Thursday. I’m sure he only rings to check I’m shielding. Anyhow he had picked up Dipstick’s letter. Short on detail was his observation. He also spotted the CT with contrast request. Not impressed he is writing to Dipstick . Allergic to CT Contrast might be a critical event.
Arghhhh.
Tomorrow would be the Anniversary of my kidney surgery. It was 29th February As has become customary the recipient and I have swapped letters. I’m always nervous that he might not reply or that his news is dreadful. But no he is fine. Kidney is doing brilliantly and despite shielding he’s doing great. That’s such a positive.

  1. For goodness sake Jacq stop sitting on your hands doing nothing! While you are playing Bridge, organising a funeral, helping your mum and chatting to chums who was baking the bread and making lunch. Honestly, Jacq I suppose poor Daniel had to do it ……again!
