Morning from….

Ward 20 again!

This time I’ve got the window – view of Luton- and as I know from two weeks ago new mattresses!

Bed 1 nice lady really friendly. Lots of visitors including her six year old son. Staff turned a blind eye to him coming. Such a good kid and all his grandmas aunties and cousins all tried to be so quiet. Last auntie eventually left at 10.

Bed 2 poor old lady huge family noisy loud speaker phones on etc etc. I wanted to give them my earphones. They left at 10:30

Bed 3 some comatose lady who seems out of it until she suddenly starts yelling that someone in this bay has stolen things from her.

She has a nurse guard (?) in a chair next to her. But the guard is asleep in her recliner chair.

I’d hoped to be in Cornwall this week but instead went for the weekend- was worth it.

I came in yesterday as instructed. Got here early hopi g the ‘right team’. The ‘right list’. The ‘right surgeon’ would be here.

Doing ok

Mrs Anaesthetist been absolutely wonderful. She was the same one who did my pre-op and surgery last year, so seeing her such a relief after lastime’s poor nervous wreck good. Shearrived before I’d been clerked in. She’d reviewed her notes. Remembered everything. Made sure all was ok.

Then the theatre staff turned up before the clerking was finished, and a rush to do stockings, gaping gown, clinic notes and answer questions simultaneously. Max Fax ran in too. Quick update and ran off again.

TheMr Maxfax was close by and said I’d caused a lot of faff. I bet! Mrs anaesthetics was amazing . Before they started she loaded me up salamol, max oxygen the big C Pap

thing to make sure the lungs were topped up and calm. , all the right stuff. Formula 1 pit stop operations theatre . Not at all like last time.

I’m back on the ward , painkillers, antibiotics and .

Jaw plates have been drilled out. Plasma injected in. Stitches in. They’ve run out of ice packs but nice lady opposite donated hers. Hope that’s ok nurses seemed to squeeze the pack and frozen stuff worked.
