Water Under the Bridge

Tuesday was the scheduled pre spinal op assessment. We decided we’d take the boys to London too. All was great with those two little people ‘helping ‘ the nurse with blood pressure, blood tests, ridiculous history taking which I had already submitted. D stayed in the waiting room. Just as well as … the the face to face questionnaire got shorter and shorter. Operations in the past?

2 ish. I just cannot be bothered to list them all. They are on my records if anyone cares to look.

Allergies?

2 well only 2 serious ones.

Medications

14 that is true of the daily ones.

They boys looked at me quizzically- you sure ?

ECG. The nurse asked if I minded him doing it. The female equivalent being busy with another patient. My two small chaperones stayed close while he affixed all the sticky dot things. Tore off the read out and sent us on our way.

We had fun. Riverboat. Battersea Power station. Lego. Home. Loved it.

Next day: the Baron’s team CNS rang. The ECG shows an abnormal signal. Oh. I said that’ll be because the two implants always interfere with the trace. No one mentioned it yesterday. Bugger.

She agreed. We both realised I should have turned them off. But forgot.

She arranged an urgent appointment for Thursday. Back to London I went. On my own this time. Kind and lovely CNS and I chatted away. Not least about the Baron and his abruptness. She attached all the leads and sticky dots. Reattached. Tried again. And again. uh oh.

Eventually she admitted there was an abnormality. A different abnormality. She’d have to talk to the anaesthetist, the Baron and cardiologist. She was already in touch with Jawbreaker surgeon. Oh bugger.

I’m sure it’s all ok. They have to be sure. The last anaesthetic I seem to recall was the curious incident of the tree- in -the -knee. In September. That was all fine with ECG etc then.

Please don’t let this delay the battery change process. it’s just a blip. Cannot think of it being anything else.

Meanwhile it’s the Easter weekend. Nothing will happen.

In other news some amazing work on NICE guidelines was finalised this week. As I answered committee questions in this oh so serious zoom – I was also making paper aeroplanes and marble runs to distract small people. If the minutes refer to the need for finding my/having lost my ….marbles I’ll know I got in a muddle!!

Have a great weekend of Easterness.

I’ll let you know what’s occurring!
