Nether never land

Of course this blog is about my own medical confrontations it has of course become a bit of mum and dad’s NHS encounters too.

Dad’s GP sent me a message via care home. Could I pick up a letter.

Yesterday. On my way to see Dad I stopped at said GP. It’s in a skanky bit of MK called Netherlands or some Beanland or Coffee Bean or something I think.

There was a very dead looking man on the pavement guarded by police. Stepping around him I made it into Rottweiler Reception kingdom. Whoo they were seriously battlemode. I could only be given the letter if I gave them £20 cash. Not actually having any cash I proffered my phone credit card. No way was that allowed. Off I trudged past the decaying man, police and now ambulance. I tried the co-op but the staff were too busy gawping at the action to notice me let alone the shoplifters taking advantage of the situation. Long story short I found a bank. Got some cash. Got the stupid letter all three lines of it.

I’m now in the ambulance queue. The crew behind are chatting to Dad’s crew. I ended up explaining the Nevernetherbeancoffee area of yesterday.

Turns out seemingly dead man of yesterday was scraped off the pavement and was in fact alive, by the ambulance crew, behind Dad in the queue today. We were discussing it. they said that area is the scabbiest in MK. “Ketamine avenue”-I made them laugh because the Co-op shop staff were so busy watching the action they didn’t see the shoplifters behind them..

Bit later. Time goes by here in AandE. CT done. X Ray done. Now we wait

Monday missed a call. was the gentamicin nurse. She was supposed to ring at 16:00. She rang at 15:30 when I was in a meeting. So now I’m a DNR no I mean DNA. Did Not Attend. = Expelled

DNR is Dad!.

Can you believe this hospital uses those gas canister things to transport stuff It’s right by Dad’s bed so frigging noisy. Sorry trolley not bed. Pneumatic tubes.

Meanwhile nothing from urology Dipstick

Nothing from nice lovely London doctor who was going to check out my poly pharmacy/ blood pressure meds blah blah He hasn’t been back in contact since early April. No rush. And I’ve had no time.

Jerome rang. Brilliant binary conversation. 0- do nothing

1 – do something

We’ve gone for 1

He sent script. Stuff to try. Kind pharmacist at our chemist messaged me. Suggest change tac. He advised …It’ll

cost £672 !

Binary decision

0 don’t try the stuff

1 ask politely for GP to prescribe

Jerome ever showing speed and wiseman wrote letter to GP. He beat me to it. Option 1 our preferred course.

GP doesn’t do binary. GP does something like no-bloody-way thinking. I googled it: Dialectical thinking a form of reasoning as long as there are questions and conflicts.

ie nothing done by my GP.

Teeth – waiting list for jaw breaker continues. Phew. No time for that.

Wes Streeting says he will sort everything by sacking everyone. As NI will have gone up that’ll save the wages and salaries. Then as the care homes hospices and GPs can’t afford wages and salaries either maybe the sacked hospital staff can help out ? It’s really not going to to work is it.

Better go dr on way. Oh actually not for us. Cup of tea for Dad 8 hours in. First tea. Progress.
