First up Daughter 1 back in hospital. Kidney infection sat in AandE all night eventually admitted.
Next up my mum – her kidney cancer is proving incredibly painful. But thanks to the NHS she’s topping up on long lasting opiates and still beats the pants off all her bridge playing opponents.
My own kidney has grumbled. But no one seems to care about that in NHS world. No appointments. All cancelled. The tricky asthma clinic however requested my presence. Four hours travelling. £100 out of pocket. Two hours hanging about to see consultant Mr Lungs. He had nothing to say. Disagreed with the CNS requests of last week. Insisted I’d had bloods in January – actually it was last week. Stupid patients just know nothing. 3 minutes and sent away feeling inadequate, stupid and totally pissed off.
Meanwhile the puppy had his vet check. You should have seen me running after him round the garden to catch a pee! Within hours bloods done urine done results and diagnosis. He too has a kidney infection. But he has the right antibiotics quickly accurately and economically. I’m seriously wondering if a vet might agree to see me and daughter 1.
In the midst of hospitals there were nursing homes to visit as we make plans for our Dad. The kindness and care I’ve been fortunate to see is reassuring. Big decisions ahead.
Meanwhile a dash to Norfolk in relentless rain. The wedding of one of my godchildren. The extraordinarily lovely chaplain made the godparents stand for applause and continued to call me ‘The Godmother ’ for the rest of the day. This became apposite when we realised a famous actor was present. So famous that MrActor was appalled with me not knowing who the hell he was. Chaplain wondered if he’d been in the Godfather. And ambled over to check it out. Whilst I attempted to google him. Alas
Norfolk seems bereft of signal. Even the football penalties were difficult to track.
Actor: you have no idea who I am do you?
Me: er no I really don’t!
Great wedding. Super proud of bride and groom. Then a dash back to resume hospital visits.

I don’t know who he is either. Did you get a name?
