COVID strikes again

Just to add to the mix known as NHS the Doctors are on strike again. 3 days.

How does that affect anyone?

In short:

1. Dad in hospital in delirium and causing issues for safeguarding No doctors. Cover doctor was a volunteer. She looked absolutely petrified. She promised to ring when she’d got through her ‘list’ she never did. Either ring or I guess finish her list!

2. Mum tested positive for Covid yesterday. She’d said she had a ‘snuffle’. So I suggested sibling 1 do a test. Lo and behold. Covid. I’m glad to say when I rang her GP they were great. Lots of phone assessments etc supporting Sibling1 with what to do when. Anti virals dispatched. She is clearly very unwell but still texting instructions to us all.

3. Meanwhile I tried to ring Dad’s ward. No answer. I went in. Told them they’d have to test him. Ward sister, HCA and nurse all agreed. We went over his notes together on their fancy screen bot. No he’d not been tested. Yes they better. Oh f*** we said in unison. POSITIVE. Out came masks, gels, curtains god knows how that helps. anyway we all worked well and I tried to explain to Dad. He was not on message. We talked about dogs instead. As you do. He could name every one starting with Zip he, an orphan living with his cruel grandmother befriended Zip. Somehow kept him. Remember the film Kes? Sometimes I think it was maybe like that.

Hey ho. Watch out everyone. COVID is back with vengance. . Could someone tell me why hospitals don’t test? Don’t we care anymore?
