I thought it easier to write a short update here rather than lots of messages.
Last weekend we had a small family gathering in advance of little O’s birthday. It was outside freezing cold and absolutely brilliant.
As the week progressed each and every one of us has been felled by a flu bug. Everyone has been tested for covid. Despite the peppa pig politics the UK has done well on vaccinations and testing.
I got a negative result. Which gave me the licence for a f2f. Managed to get a paramedic appointment at our ‘new’ surgery. Only had to wait 48 hours. But when she rang had me there in 20 minutes. What an awesome person was that. She sent me straight to hospital. And checked I really went. Which is where I have been ever since. Lots of steroids making me bounce off the walls. Oxygen making me wide awaker. Iv Antibiotics. Iv 4 hour infusions of magnesium . Nebs. Ventolin and Atrovent stuff. They are pouring it all in. . Great team looking after me. They try to not let me laugh ( cough) but fail. Not least when as today, the daily covid test. ( yes still negative). Nurse did it. I coughed and sneezed and she dropped it on the floor. So we had to do it all again. Blood pressure monitor goes off the scale when I laugh. Difficult patient alert: bet the notes say… can’t stop her giggling and chatter . The food is a bit weird. I asked for soup got fruit salad. I asked for toast got chocolate biscuits ( I’m allergic to chocolate!). Water jug nice and warm just out of reach and glass keeps disappearing. But I’ll keep giggling and all be ok.
Everyone else in the family have been gradually getting results back. All negative. All feeling bit better . My brother was hoping to get home to Toronto so I dispatched him to isolate in safety in Cornwall. Why the panic? I hear you ask. Well one person’s test did come back positive.
This person’s track and trace contact list is something like this : 81k Twickenham crowd. ( twice). 6 surfer dudes. 4 teatasters. 12 squash players. One taxi. Many Children/. Grandchildren. South African friend visiting uk.
Plus living in same house: his Wife and Brother in law. Quite a total. Have you guessed who?
Yep that’s right.
Daniel! Poor D. he’s watching rugby drinking beer and coughing all alone at home. Suppers being left for him on the doorstep by the awesome ‘cardies’. I’m safe here and will stay with friends when I get away. Brother hoping to fly back to Toronto as soon as pcr back.
You really couldn’t make it up!

Every breath I take
And every move I make
Every giggle I shake
Every cough I quake

Do hope you are doing Jacq – sending lots of love to you all – very tough & thinking of you xx
