This is crazy

Another crazy week.Daughter 1 and family moved back to us. Their boiler had broken and little O really ill too.Stuffing my own antibiotics and keeping going was sort of working out fine.

I met and recorded a podcast for @This_isStrong… It went alright. Interrupted by cheerful chatter of O. Also Alexa chipped in when I mentioned prostate! I’ll post it here when it is published.

Then… Argh… a breathless phone call from my mother. She had fallen at home. Long story short.. I drove like a loonie to my parents. Ambulance duly arrived and I’ve spent the rest of the week mainly at Milton Keynes hospital.
My nursing skills are becoming quite useful. Not least the blocked cannula which went unnoticed until I growled. The ridiculous instructions to pee in a pad. Which I quickly got changed to get an effing catheter. The stupid privacy curtains round each bed…. Daughter 2 who works in NHS Land tells me the supplier of rails is not the same as the supplier of curtains. Hence the tracks are incompatible and the hooks fall out. In a fit of OCDness I kept trying to tidy up! Warm drink of water too far to reach. The orthopaedic surgeon who did his dementia test.. Who is the Queen? Count backwards. Where are you? Mum answered correctly even through her haze of morphine and entinox.
I laughed with my children… Good job he didn’t ask her about Trump or Randy Andy or Duchess Meg! See previous blogs.
Anyhow. She’s OK enough. Everyone is a bit frazzled. My Dad too.
However, massive respect for Paramedics. For Aand E Doctors Nurses and assistants. What they are doing is phenomenal.
More news later… I’ll cancel most appointments and stuff this week…
