Dr 🍔

After another week of sipping antibiotics and paracetamol my phone went into overdrive on Friday. 5 million messages telling me I had an appointment in London, Saturday at 9.00 am. With Consultant Mr Bean. Then a whole load of messages telling me I had an appointment at 9.15 in London on Saturday with Dr no name.
What to do?Risk expulsion by not turning up. Risk wasting everyone’s time by turning up.?
This appointment was supposed to be February 2019. Urgent. But it was cancelled and postponed so many times its nearly a year since I was seen.

I tried to ring the given number it just left me on hold for so long I fell asleep.
Turns out in that time  Dipstick was trying  to ring. Caller ID ‘unkown’ no message as his secretary tetchily emailed . He’d left the building and sent a script. Jerome meanwhile trying to assist but understandably asking Dipstick to sort it out, as he was unavailable over the weekend. This initiated yet another email from Dippy secretary. Yet another script?!? 🤔

So Saturday dawned dark and gloomy and off I set for London. Got to the hospital. The Receptionist was too busy chatting to her friend on her mobile to check patients in.
Eventually got her attention and she waved me through.
A 16 year old in jeans and jumper called my name ‘Empkensʼ. Turns out he was a Doctor Burger? I asked a nurse his name afterwards… But the nurse wasn’t sure!?
Dr Burger poor boy had really tried to read my notes. He tried hard to assess current state of play. He decided I might have kidney stones. So has ordered up a CT scan. I guess that’ll be urgent ie 2020
I managed to explain my SNS battery was losing its effective life . I suggested, letting him think it was his idea, an appointment with the SNS specialist nurse who looked after me when it was first implanted. #GoodPlan
Then it was back to the chattering reception for getting dates sorted… 2020 looking busy already.
So, I guess a useful if knackering visit. At least I’m still in the system.
Now going back home. To sleep.
