Daily Stent. I cannot cure you but I can make you laugh (citation Jerome)
A story about the days months years after a bit of an accident to bladder in routine surgery. After a series of misdiagnoses I ended up having a bladder reconstruction part of which was a refashioned ureter, using my bladder. a boari flap. that went wrong too. So I had another bladder reconstruction, a better Boari flap, stents, nephrostomies, indwelling catheters, suprapubic, disposable for self catheterising…
This blog began way back in 2009. As I lay in a hospital bed I sort of imagined I was on a plane. Seat belt on. Hostess trolley wheeled past. Air crew bell call…etc.
It seemed funny then. Now 9 years later, how could I ever have imagined I’d still be writing about the world of medicine bladders and spines.
So it is a very private story. If you find it funny that is good. If its a little too rude and offensive, I am sorry, its just a moment in time. If it makes you cry and feel pity then stop that straight away. That is a wasted emotion. Send me a funny joke, a silly story a normal day for a normal body…those are the best.
One day I might publish this. I hope you cannot identify the various persons herein. If you do then shhh keep it to yourself and I will too!
Ps please excuse my crazy cartoons I am no artist but stick men I can do with help too from an amazing site elearning heroes who have taught me so much…it whiles away those endless nights in hospital and keeps brain attached too!
