QOL

Knee is not ok. I was supposed to have MRI. BUT

The hospital imaging department ( KE7 London ) was unable to understand that a. I have implants. b. I cannot recalibrate their MRI machine myself. c. They need to link with the nurse who does know at the UCLH hospital. I distributed all the contacts I have.

Nothing much had happened when I kind of got annoyed and pulled rank to complain about an imaging person who rang me to ask me if I’d organised the MRI recalibration yet. I saw red. Asked the ‘matron’ to intervene. She did. All hell let loose.

However embarrassment of embarrassment after all my phoned calls and emails which had gone unanswered the UCLH pain management clinic who know about these things emailed to say due to the impedence of the spinal stimulator leads I couldn’t have an MRI at all ! Who knew?

Oops apologies all round and withdrawn complaint. me apologising that is. No one else.

Spinal leads are meant to be changed at the end of April. But I have had absolutely no information about that so maybe it’s not happening. If it does happen then maybe an MRI will happen.

Then maybe knee can be fixed.

Then jaw fixed.

No rush. !

In other news the UKCS conference took place. Lots of consultants physios nurses. Huge venue. Prof and me sat ourselves on a side table and generally had a good conference. Presentation of our study went well until rushed to complete within the allocated time. Competitive and irritated as I was, I started timing all the other presentations. They all over ran. Some by minutes some by up to an hour. Throwing the entire schedule out and delayed and shortened breaks etc etc adding chaos. But no other presenter was called out on timing. Just saying.

Dipstick was there – he told me I scare him with positivity. I’ll take that as a compliment.

Another clinician who looked after me post operative in 2009(!) saw me and asked: “Do you have ANY quality of life at all Jacq”. What a dumb arse question. What on earth was she saying. I’m quite pleased my answer was an irritated “of course I do”

I wish she could have seen me on Sunday. High up on a fire truck’s ladder. Me and little O on a private visit to Wembley fire station. Quality of life – oh yes I do.
