discharged

I think the last I wrote explained that I was in the operation recovery room for the rest of the day.

It seems that the hospital now discharges from recovery room to pavement with nothing in between.

As Dipstick had ‘said’ I would have iv antibiotics overnight I stayed in recovery until the evening. The operating teams in recovery were so kind and dealt brilliantly with bonkers bladder erupting every so often. I slept alot. Chatted alot. There were lentil sandwiches and coffee too . ! The other patients coming round from surgery were amazing. I had no idea how impatient difficult and demanding they could be. Wow. OK groggy from anaesthetic but not at their best. One man insisted on seeing the ‘menu’ for his lunch. er. NO such thing. Biscuit or lentil sandwich. easy. He was adamant he did not need a catheter. Poor surgeon was called in to explain he’d be in retention if not…took them ages to calm him down .

Incredible staff absolutely calm and patient.

The iv went in at 16.00 then all my new friends in the operating theatres decided I might as well go home. Poor registrar had remembered my suggestion for take home antibiotics so we waited and waited and waited for pharmacy to source those. Then It was a wait for ‘urology’ nurse to formally appear. Poor grumpy man that he was simply read the instructions on the antibiotics box and said ring if issues.

Eventually home ( UBER yay, thank you) .

It seems that despite the many calls from the ‘Michael’ of Medical Secretaries who assured me that whilst Senior Registrar would be doing the stuff Dipstick would be in the next door operating theatre. Nope he was in Bristol.

Overnight iv antibiotics meant afternoon and discharge.

Any one would get confused, thankfully Jerome can sort things out and keep me on the straight and narrower. Because he cares. But what about everyone else.

Meanwhile the hospital thinks I am still there. I get my daily schedule of events or non events!
