Pads and pants

It’s a late night tonight. I’m trying to charge my SNS but it’s giving me shocks. I did email Dipstick about this. He replied copying in his CNS, ‘ needs to be checked for impingement’. That was a month ago nothing has happened.

Mr Respiratory is concerned about some of the meds I’m on. Poly pharmacy or some such. He’s written to Mr Nephrology. He’s suggested I contact nephrology. I’ve tried. He’s tried. no answer. How can a patient get to speak to someone at a hospital who might help?

GP has no appointments unless you can jump on the phone at 8 am and endure the call queue system for an emergency appointment. As in a phone call. Not Face to face. Hopeless ,stupid system.

MRI scan was done. Absolutely no idea what the result of that is was or will be.

Meanwhile I spoke at a House of Commons dinner. Extraordinary evening. Wandered in. Saw public gallery. Saw Jacob Rees wotsit wandering around. To my embarrassment I said ‘hello’ as if I knew him or he me. He said hi back!#plonker. Lovely dinner and copious wine – I stuck to water ( safer). Said my bit. See below for the speech. Then Baroness blah. Started on about ‘pads’. With the greatest of respect , I tried to say, it’s not about the pads. She wanted people to be tracked when they bought products. Errr not sure that is lawful is what I was thinking. What I said though was: It’s the advertising of frilly pants pads and men’s equivalent which normalises the leaky bladder situation. The ‘oops moments’ are not funny, not normal and are symptoms. As are the new style frilly padded knickers. They are a coping strategy not a solution. That raised a laugh. Indeed every subsequent speaker managed to get frilly knickers into the conversations after me. The MPs present were running back to vote in the chamber, but unlike other meetings I have been to, they did return. They each had a personal story too. That was brave of them. Brave and magnificent.
It was a good night. Such an honour to be invited.

Next day was APPG for bladder and bowel. A virtual meeting. Techno issues were causing havoc. Baroness Wotsit looked old and ill, her trusty assistant pressed the buttons for her. Others were not so fortunate and froze or left the meeting. Indeed two key speakers never turned up at all. Probably just as well as the tensions grew. Ah well. Let’s see what outcomes have been agreed.

I’ve written my Thankyou notes for these events. No reply. No feedback. Nothing. Mmmm. There is a theme developing here!
