Right foot out

Good morning the sun is shining and it is Friday again. What better way to end another lovely week which began in hospital.

Having given the bladder battery a fair trial. We, as in specialist nurse and I, were waiting for infection to calm down. Medtronic to tell us how to change settings so that it didn’t overheat. We also need to work out how to stop the device sending shooting pains down my leg. Not a word from Dipstick . Where is he? In this pause therefore what better time to get the broken foot checked out. If nothing else to a. Rule out extra pain contributors. B. To Do any recovery after surgery in parallel.

Well. It turns out broken foot was not so much broken as dislocated at toe. Tendon torn. Ligament torn. The weeks since I’d been to fracture clinic wearing the heel boot? That was actually never going to work. What it needed was repair tendon , partial toe amputation and use bone to use for fusion, screw to hold in place another screw to leave in place. Oh yes. All done. Monday. Now have new foot. I must explain the relief at at least one bit of broken body being fixed. Yes it’s been incredibly painful. Yes it’s a six week wait until the bandages and one of the pins come off. But it’s a plan. It seems a good one.
