Week 2 in shield has been weirdly busy. From emptying my government food parcel: Spam. Fig rolls. Tinned peas. Chocolate wheetos.

I have tried to request no further parcels.

But still they come. D has distributed contents on doorsteps. 

Helping others with technology continued. I so admire the zoomers, imovies, what’s apps… which are being adopted so fast. 

Then there has been the online pilates from awesome Yellow -Cardie -in -France. 
Zoom bridge with yellow cardies was probably the highlight of the week. Oh also, the beach drinks with the Catchuppers on whatsapp. MJ brought her boat. I had my crabs! JES her hat and sunnies. Not forgetting our family quiz… .
In another time I was meant to be in Bristol, Clacton and Birmingham. But I’ve done all that from solitary confinement. Isn’t it amazing? All the red tape all the terms, conditions and data crap… all swept away to just get on with it.. 
Online accounting systems have been invaluable in working with a charity I’m involved with. Getting to grips withfurlough and stuff. Meanwhile reading wonky donky to little O, singing the wheels on the bus and watching the first steps for baby H. 

On the medical front I received many texts and letters from the government telling me I am now listed as extremely vulnerable. Stay in. 3 steps from household members and open a window!?

Meanwhile, inevitably, the tooth – with-the-drill-still- stuck -in- it, broke. I rang the dentist. Lovely receptionist schooled in the labrador method of call handling explained that the surgery is only open for emergencies. But via the awesome shielding people council volunteers, a filling kit was brought my house. Just think, all those years of paying a fortune for a filling. We could have done it ourselves! You should have seen me. The instructions are sparse, somehow or other I ended up with white cement over all my fingers and not tooth! I have sort of plugged it now. Visions of the Dustin Hoffman film Marathon Man, dentist torture, came to me as I rammed the cement stuff in.

Unbelievably brilliant volunteers have picked up prescriptions from the chemist. Big white council vans pull up outside. High viz vested driver marches up to the door. Rings, steps exactly 2m away and checks I am the shielded one!
Everybody in fact being amazing.. 
Well, not quite everybody… The gp receptionists have had extra  training in Rottweiler snarling. 
I realise this is a national emergency. I know there are no face to face appointments, I asked on the phone, I typed on the online ask a question form… eventually I spoke to a human. Rottweiler. Could I request an msu..? Why she snarled.

 I need to check whether I have an infection. 

I guess I could have said I am bored thought I would do a sample to fill the time.

Go to the hospital she said. 

I can’t I said. I’m in lock down, Shielding, extremely vulnerable… Need a form etc…. Blah blah

Although Tesco has me listed as vulnerable…weirdly GP receptionist does not know? care?

She tutted and grumped. 
I’ll get a nurse to ring you,. … She snapped
Well of course.

I’ve heard.

Nothing.
so I stuffed more antibiotics in.. Feel not too bad.. Gin seems to help. 

But how is everyone out there in locked down world. Please take care especially you amazing NHS people.
