Patsie

Patsie expressed a wish that her funeral was small, quiet and family/ close friends only.
A bigger celebration and scattering of her ashes will be at her house in the summer.
Her funeral on Wednesday was indeed small, quiet and strictly adhered to her instructions. No eulogy. She said that if any wanted to know her CV please ask her children! Her son Ant conducted the service. He is army chaplain . Her son Daniel and daughter Jo were also there of course and they helped all the grandchildren to tie special ribbons from her sister in Australia to her beautiful wicker coffin. She would have been so proud of them all.
Tea afterwards was a fabulous opportunity to dry our eyes, catch up and find new connections.
To my utter delight the framed photo had been sent to her children from Swedan It arrived in time to take pride of place at tea. Of course I had to explain the story! The stories are here : https://atomic-temporary-78913287.wpcomstaging.com/2019/04/26/rest-in-peace-absolutely-fabulous/
During the service a montage of photos was shown on a couple of screens. She had done the same for her husband Jonathan’s , funeral . Ant had selected shots from childhood, motherhood, grandmothering and friends. A photo of Eddie and me whilst at a London speaking event, for continence, set the tears down my face . As did one in our garden last year. Such was the fun we had then, as ever, laughing in the face of adversity.
So we raise a glass to you Patsie and look forward to celebrating again in August.
. Absolutely fabulous.
