Just a brief update. I’m hoping Patsie reads this and feels a bit better for laughing.
Here goes. Another bonkers week.
Monday try to finalise speech for the CAB symposium in Birmingham.
Er. I don’t know what CAB is.
Tried to get help for uti but the microbiology man known herein as Montmorancy keeps sending letters which are encrypted ie cannot be opened.
Saw physio as part of my spinal rehab. Whatever she did made it so much worse could hardly move.
Tuesday. Teaching day. Reluctant to cancel as I have to cancel so many. Rush by taxi to catch a train from Milton Keynes. Miss train on account of accident blocking road ahead.
Eventually get to Birmingham ?.hurting everywhere.
Threw a clean shirt on and to formal dinner. Food was dire. Wine I avoided. Water was lovely. Some old friends from across the North greeted me with such enthusiasm and invited me for a ‘smoke’. I declined the honour of this invite.
After dinner speaker was non other than my twitter friend, the totally outrageous physio known as @Gussie-Grips . Raising awareness of Continence and pelvic floors by performing her one lady show at the Edinburghfringe. She was just trying to explain why a supplier had sent her a red-lit-torch-rude -unmentionable item, when the coffee waiter appeared at the door. He took one look and ran away. She was fantastic and I went to speak to her afterwards. She said Holyrood was shocked at her presentation to them. But they have improved the ‘baby box’ as a result. Awareness. Whatever it takes. She did seem to recognise my name. So either she was being very polite or she is my only follower on Twitter!
Wednesday. Speech at 12.00 but with 5 seconds notice they put me on at 10.00. The next speaker had got stuck en route. So off I strode rattled through my bit about Excellence in Continence Care. Told some funny stories. Tried to show a video of Patsy speaking. But no internet. So they got her photo and me trying to explain the big C. Living with Cancer but frustrated about living with Continence issues for longer.
I came to a halt. Did. QA. Showed photo of Patsie.
Eventually I dried up. Waved at the CEO…NEXT SPEAKER ? still stuck…….’keep going ‘ was the signal from the host team. Sooooo I organised an impromptu live clinical session on how to place an indwelling catheter, astimulator and reprogram . The hilarity this provoked , the questions, the embarrassed directors who I made volunteer, was terrific .
Thursday recovery day. Ie could not move a muscle day. Checked out my parents. They were considerably more sprightly than me!
Friday antibiotics day. Painkillers. Shove it all in.
Which? How often? Dunno .# ! Encryption stops play Ssshhh
