Brexititis Update

Brexititis

Update. February 2019

Pharmacist says he has contacted all suppliers. No one has the antibiotic.

Pharmacist says this has been the case for many regular meds.

So now what?

I’ve emailed Dipstick for advice. No answer. What a surprise. Just contact me. Anytime.

Blog Post January 2019

I’ve been chatting to a few people about shortages in medication. It is thought to be because either patients are stockpiling or pharmacists are. Or are the suppliers milking the situation ? Either way I felt I should not start escalating the issues by over ordering repeat medication or catheters myself.

Meanwhile I was invited to attend a recent supply chain meeting where procurement generally, and bladder and bowel products, specifically, were discussed planned for and a strategy tentatively agreed. Brexit was not mentioned. Mmm.

In my case I have enough of the ordinary daily medicines to keep me ok for a couple of weeks.

Having eventually seen Dipstick this week, I took his script for an unusual antibiotic, to our chemist. Alas they had no stock. But would order in. Back home I found an old packet. Two days worth in it. Started those. It occurs to me I did not check the date of expiry. Oops.

Back to chemist Thursday- still not available

Same Friday. Back today Saturday …they said still not in…try Monday.

Shit. I’m now out of those antibiotics …I’ll have to swap to whatever I’ve got.

In the absence of a plan from Dipstick. I tried to chase the msu. That too was not available.

Bummer. I think I’ve been Brexited.
