I must apologise for not writing sooner. We have spent a lot of May in Scotland clearing out my late parent – law’s house. When not doing that we have been recovering from that. It will be a good year or so before we are remotely on top of it.
I have made a note to myself. When we retire we will stay put in a reasonably sized house, near all modes of transport and family and friends. I have also sorted out all of my kitchen cupboards prompted by the discovery of 30year old spices lotions and potions in Scotland. The house is in the middle of absolutely no where. It is a 6 hour drive. On a good day. There is no train plane or boat access anywhere near. Wi-fi and phone signal do not really happen. It is in short, a nightmare.
True to form bladder has complained. Spine has protested at the hours spent on the M6 and kidney has painfully grumbled. Jerome has been ever at the ready to help God I hope he never ever retires . Allergy Annie has been at the end of my iPad too… ( albeitsporadic email connectivity)…little did she realise her kind offer of a visit to her London clinic was impossible from the Scottish hills!
As for Saintly GP he has been as saintly as ever. Shame about his Rottweiler receptionist who refused to give my latest urine test results to me over the phone. She insisted I need a doctor telephone appointment. To which I readily agreed. Alas that could only be arranged for 7 days later. Without Jerome I would have been on the wrong or none antibiotics causing ever more cost to NHS. However, saintly gp did eventually ring.
” Do you need anything from me?” He asked
“Nope too late” I replied.
“Ah” he said. ” Jerome sorted?”
….
in fact Saintly GP asked if I could help HIM.
Of course I could. He wanted his appraisal questionnaire done. 45 consecutive patients…I was #45!
So I’ve done that. Anonymous of course. But I imagine he might guess the patient who commented that his surgery would benefit hugely by training the receptionists to give out results, read antibiotic sensitivity and bebloody empathetic. Understanding patients not obstructing patients would go a long way to increasing efficiency economy and relationships!
It’s great to be in June. It’ll be fantastic I’m sure?.
Oh one more thing. I took the boys to the Scottish waterfall again. They loved it! And so did I …
