Cabbage leaves

In haste… as I write I have screaming baby in one arm typing this in other.

Slight emergency with a touch of mastitis for D1. I volunteer to sprint round to her local co-op for my dimly remembered cure ‘ cabbage leaves’. God know what the hell that does but I think James Herriot did that to his patient/ cows relief.

So there I was scanning the shelves.. Brussels carrots swede cauliflower…not a bloody cabbage in sight.

I tried the salad section. Coleslaw? Mmm maybe that’d do the trick.

I then found ‘Chinese stir fry’ ….onions white cabbage green cabbage and bean sprouts. Delighted with my find I dash back to the tearful household.

Panic set in. Do I boil them? Green? White? Bugger.. I google it….raw green cabbage apparently . I picked out all the green snippets I could find. Brushed off the onion. Dashed upstairs and to the wide eyed disbelief of son in law stuffed them down D1’s shirt.

Guess what….Seems to have done the trick. Peace has descended. Tears are dried and order, restored.

I’m chucking antibiotics at bladder and thinking cabbage might help. Or bean sprouts? Or onions?

I’ll ask the vet! Night.

  1. So sympathise as have been there. Dark green leaves , the bigger the better, leave on the breasts until the heat goes down. Savoy or similar aptly shaped. The relief xx
