However many Doctors I meet there’s always that whole trust thing that I struggle with. Why ? What? How? … Do they have an ulterior motive? do I believe a word? My confidence is shattered after a disastrous 10 months working on a project with a young Doctor …’ long story for another time

So with trepidation I reorganised my mother in law’s hospital appointment. Her GP is in a bubble of denial. He referred her to a certain Dr Mouse ( well, his name was similar!). Then he admitted to me, Mouse wasn’t actually taking any referrals. No wonder poor old lady hadn’t got her much anticipated appointment letter. By asking an old ( trusted) friend in Scotland, I worked out a geriatrician who readily agreed to help. My logic is, perhaps like paediatricians they see the whole body not just the toe, or lungs or even bladder, in isolation. The joined up thinking she perhaps needs. She trusts me to fix it, gawd I hope he can at least make her more comfortable.
Appointment is tomorrow. Fingers crossed I’ve got it right. Don’t trust anyone just now.
My parents meanwhile needing all sorts of help but ….finding it difficult to admit it whilst also asking me to keep phone on through the night …just in case. Sorting them is next priority. They trust me, so yikes I’ve got to try.
In the midst of this of course I have a UTI which just will not budge whatever I throw at it. Met Dipstick for brief check today. Not much he could suggest. But sent another msu, no gum chewing nurse with power to halt this result. I HOPE!
Told him about my brain- scan -eye -op situation. He was glad he wasn’t the only Doctor in Team J who was struggling with coherent solutions! Thankfully the bionic settings have readjusted to that scan.
I was impressed to see a groovy new fan in his consulting rooms. The old style dusty noisy fans never seemed to do anything on the oh so very hot sweaty times I’ve been there. This one is the very same we’ve had at home. It’s quiet, cool, clean and it’s inventor, a bit of a hero of mine.
Dipstick laughed at my enthusiasm. ‘Well’, he said
‘Jerome insisted on the dam thing. Look, it’s even got a remote control.
Let’s try it…..’
and so after a bit of fumbling about he got a slight breeze going.
I didn’t have the heart to tell him he could up the setting with the remote. What would a mere patient know. Trust me?
He again suggested I see the maverick Dr UTI .
NO. I’m sure about that one at least. You see, I explained, I know quite a bit more about that now. I don’t TRUST him.
Weddings will keep us busy in the week ahead… NO! Not our children this time.

We’ve been asked as ‘adopted’ parents to awesome friend of Daughter 2, L. The wedding will be massively emotional massively brilliant . I’ve made her a lucky box.. old .. new …borrowed.. blue and a sixpence for her shoe. D being more practical has sorted them a subscription to the Wine Society! I also am invited to a maths student’s family wedding . It’s a week of celebrations, I’ll attempt a bit, …. finishing at the Central Mosque …it’ll be amazing. I’ve got them a sixpence each too. Not wine!
