Sitting on train to London. I’m giggling out loud. Nurse D sent message asking if I enjoyed lamb. He says he realises I enjoyed the rum! Can’t think why …mm
Tuesdays I pop round to family of ex student. Taught her a while back. She’d never left Bedford on her own til she met a certain crazy teacher . Her peers and I had wonderful lessons putting the world to rights. They taught me way more than I ever taught them. Now she’s doing Accounting locally and about to accept an unconditional training contract in London. Talk about respect… that is mine for her parents. They are letting her make these huge steps. It goes against all they know. But they respect and trust daughters to do the right thing. I do a bit of maths tutoring for the GCSE sister. She works so dam hard I only do small bits for fear she’ll burn out. Grandpa hid in a boat from Bangladesh. Became a U.K. citizen and sent for his family. They are brilliant. 4 daughters and cheeky little son. But really it’s an hour of chatter with them all. Tea and absolutely no rum! Mum insists on paying me…in food. I always leave overloaded with dishes of hot freshly prepared biryani or samosa … I think that’s called ‘ mates rates’ ……Goes down well at home!
