It’s me! How did you know? Here in Bedford we matriarchs go to BoxEnd a farmer’s spring filled lake.

Reply to @Jacqueline Emkes But there the swim is surrounded by rules and regs, like having to wear a brightly coloured swim hat at all times and wear a wetsuit if the water temperature is below 14oC At least at Hampstead you can just jump in and get on with it.

Jacqueline Emkes says: Not a problem – not least because the wetsuit helps flotation for some of us with spinal issues that’s amazing. Of course if I was rich enough to live in H’stead those ponds must be awesome. But I don’t, so Bedford matriarchs go for BoxEnd. It’s brill. One more thing – you know what to do if yr cold ? Just P wonderful for those of us with continence issues..but that’s another story!

….and another thing…we madly went in on Boxing Day 2015…it was utterly brain clearing turkey clearinglysurprised1 wonderful. The brain frozen screeches of the men in front of us  could be heard across the fields….’ I think I’ve suddenly developed ovaries’ yelled one!
