I have a very funny friend who posts stories about her dogs on Facebook.

There was one about a battery eaten at Christmas.

Friday night drama at the R’s!! We’ve been wondering why the Sky box stopped working for a few weeks. Tonight, just as we settled down for The One Show, Mr Jerry the cat, backed into his new litter tray (a new addition as he’s too old and frail to go out) and directed a stream of pee into the fan of the Sky Box. Huge flash, crackling noise and everything switched off. Baited breath for a few seconds until Jerry appeared from behind the sofa apparently unscathed ( positively nonchalant in fact). Same can’t be said for the Sky box which I don’t think Sky will want back. Second mystery solved too – where does Mr Jerry go for a poo now he won’t go outside? Could be connected with the little amuse bouches Tally has been seen consuming before her dinner tonight. Tasty.
Why do we happily talk about our pet’s bladders and bowels and not our own? Maybe I can think of a way to use this for the #ItsPersonal Campaign. All ideas very welcome.
and this, 24 and 25 December 2014:
Came home to find battery from remote missing. £300 later and out of hours trip to vets with Labradors confirmed one swallowed battery. Waiting for it to ‘pass’ .Another x ray tomorrow . Unpleasant rituals ahead to assess ‘passing’. Christmas joy. Much money ‘passed’.
- And Lo – there was a miracle this Christmas morn for the lost battery was reborn. The family gathered round, their faces lit with joy. ‘Now we can watch Elf , HURRAH’ piped up Tiny John. ‘Christmas is full of unusual smells isn’t it, Mummy ?’ said little Janet. ‘ Who said £400 couldn’t buy you happiness ? chortled Daddy. And Mummy shook her head and smiled ‘This will be the best Christmas ever’. And it was.
- A new Christmas story. In times to come my grandchildren will ask “Grandpa was there ever really such a miracle?” Ans I shall say “Yes there was, because Christmas is a magical time when wonderful things can happen, now pass me another glass of my special medicine.” Happy Christmas one and all.
- Told you it would be a Christmas miracle!
- You were right
- And Lo Balthazar, the respected dog-watcher has seen these movements ….through the treacherous journey … Hurray HAPPEEE CHRISTMAS
- Lo another chapter for the book: On a midnight clear. Lo the battery didst appear. Now the Epiphany follows Westward leading, still proceeding,
