January 2015

Here we are another New Year another raft of resolutions.

resolution 1 : avoid surgeons – already failed

resolution 2: get fitter – swim spin..

resolution 3: less unpaid work – negotiating

resolution 4: Ski aha

Well, good start. Did something horrible to my back and ended up with emergency scan 23rd Dec . The ‘Baron’ insists I see old Boring Ben the spinal surgeon. So seen him he as chatty (not) as ever. Reckons its the disc at L2/3. Reckons all our worrying that should have extended fusion maybe was right. mmm. Nuclear scan next as MRI impossible due to SNS.

Lovely letter from the infamous Jerome K. Thanking for the Three Men in a Boat book. That caused so much merriment and distraction therapy.

Urodynamics next at a new ( to me ) hospital. Liz and Jim at St John’s Wood. Good for the bagel shop and spectacularly nice kind understanding team. Surgeon Insisted on allergy protocol and overnight stay. The test itself is gruesome and as before the oft repeated ‘ Tell us when you feel ‘full’ as in bladder just does not happen. Upside down, turned all around, stand sit , whirl…still nothing…difficult to empty. Cough leaks. etc etc. Reflux to old Boari flap site. mmmm.

Took my mother for her Cancer check up this week too. All ok enough there. Just a moment of craziness when she was asked about swelling on her breast. This is part of a research post questionnaire. The puzzled expression on all our faces as we tried to work out if that meant the remaining ( unaffected ) breast or the original. In frustration and with just a tiny little wry grin…’ Well as I do not have a breast there it is difficult to assess whether it is swollen or not…..’ Oh said researcher..so you had a mastectomy did you? arghghg.. Well REALLY??
